About Our Foundation

Empowering Future

We are delighted to introduce Mehr Foundation as a not for profit organization which has been working diligently and dedicatedly to provide better health care services and creating awareness about the job opportunities in the rural and remote areas of Punjab. We believe in Empowering Future and the future can be empowered only if the youth is not only kept aware about the career prospects and the significance of education but also by making them aware of their social responsibilities and their responsibilities towards the elderly population of the society. We have been organizing mega camps in the rural areas wherein the elderly population is motivated to get free cancer screening along with detailed free checkups and consultation by specialist doctors coming from at least 8-10 streams; at the same camp, youth from the rural population is also encouraged to come and fill up free enrollment forms for jobs.

War Against Cancer

Punjab has a higher ratio of cancer patients as compared to the national average. The malwa region of the state is now called, “Cancer Belt” . There are numerous reasons because of which this deadly disease has taken a major portion of the state into its fangs. From lifestyle issues to adulterated food items, to the use of insecticides & pesticides for crops, to adulterated milk,

to use of chemical based beauty and cosmetic products and deteriorating drinking water; the reasons are countless and may have gone beyond immediate control. However, if the disease is detected at an early stage, it is possible to curb its harm. The same can only be done if the people are not only made aware bout the early symptoms and also if they are motivated to get the cancer detection tests from time to time. It is a known fact that these costs are often prices very high and affordable detection centers may not be within the physical reach of the people.

Mehr Foundation is trying to take these detection centers to the rural and remote areas in order to facilitate screening for free cancer detection at the villages from time to time. We carry out the detection in the state of the art cancer van, specially designed to carry out cancer screenings at the remote areas of Punjab. Women above the age of 40 years are motivated to get screening for breast and cervical cancers whereas men above the age of 60 years are motivated to get screening for prostate cancer. Besides breast, cervical and prostate; patients are also screened for oral cancer and lungs cancer. Not only do we carry out free screening for cancer detection, but we also do a follow up with the patients who have been detected with cancer. We counsel them about the further course of action and also inform them about various government schemes for free treatment and medication.
